BUFFALO BILLS NEWSLETTER

Active Former Buffalo Bills

Active Former Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills have now officially missed the playoffs 12 seasons in a row. This is a terrible statistic for any football team, especially one that went to 4 straight Super Bowls just 20 years ago and was one of the dominant teams in the 1990's. One reason that the Bills have struggled so much is that they have drafted terribly. Many players such as Mike Williams have turned out to be complete busts. Another reason is that the players they end up cutting or getting rid of become stars in other cities.

The player that they traded several years ago was Willis McGahee. McGahee was a 1st round draft pick of the Bills in 2003, replacing Travis Henry. He was a very good running back, but did not connect with the fans the way that Ralph Wilson wanted. He went on to Baltimore to become a role back, but did what he did very well. He scored lots of touchdowns in Baltimore and was virtually an...(Read More)

Bills fail against hungry Chargers

The Buffalo Bills came into Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers with virtually no chance of making the playoffs. They left San Diego with those chances smashed into a thousand pieces. The Bills lost 37-10 in San Diego, looking as if they had a chance in the game for only about a 3 minute stretch. Ryan Fitzpatrick was awful, going 13/34 for 176 yards and 2 interceptions. He continues to struggle after signing the big six year contract extension. The Bills have now lost 6 games in a row, all of these coming after the Fitzpatrick contract signing. Philip Rivers on the other hand, who is now 22-2 in the month of December, threw for 240 yards and 3 touchdowns. Two of these touchdowns went to their star tight end Antonio Gates, who finished with 68 yards receiving. Ryan Mathews gained 114 yards on 20 carries, the first time he's had three straight 100-yard games. The Chargers remain in...(Read More)

Bills chances finished after home loss to Titans

Bills chances finished after home loss to Titans

The Buffalo Bills lost at home to the Tennessee Titans in a game that was blacked out to the Western New York region. Titans running back Chris Johnson continues to emerge from a two-month slumber, rushing for 153 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Titans to a 23-17 win over the slumping Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Held to under 100 yards seven times in his first eight games, Johnson now has topped the century mark three times in his last four outings.

The Titans (7-5) have won two straight and moved into a tie with four other teams in contention for the AFC's final wild card berth. Meanwhile, the Bills lost their 5th straight game to virtually put the nail in the coffin of the slim playoff chances they had going into the game. What once seemed like one of the best teams in the league now has the potential to finish as one of the worst teams in the league. Since Ryan Fitzpatrick signed...(Read More)

My opinion of Stevie Johnson

My opinion of Stevie Johnson

I think Stevie Johnson is a terrific football player. The Buffalo Bills number one wide receiver makes tremendous plays, but at the same time can make some very bad plays. He is a person that likes to have fun. He showed this last season when he scored a touchdown against the Bengals and raised his jersey to show a "Why so serious!" t-shirt. This game personified Stevie Johnson is a nutshell. He had an over-the-top celebration, but had 3 touchdowns to prove his worth.

This past Sunday, Johnson had 8 catches for 75 yards and a touchdown against arguably the best defender in football, New York Jets cornerback Darelle Revis. Revis rarely gives up yards to even the best receivers, so Johnson's day was more than impressive. In fact, in the last 65 games Revis has played, Johnson has put up the best 2 days against him. However, the bad side of Johnson, showed up against Pittsburgh, in which...(Read More)

Bills blunders end chance of playoffs again

Bills blunders end chance of playoffs again

The Buffalo Bills did it again. After starting the season 3-0, 4-1 and 5-2, they looked prime to make the playoffs for the first time in over a decade. However, the Bills went in to their usual rut and lost their 4th game in a row. Now with a losing record, the Bills must win out and get help. On Sunday, the New York Jets defeated the Buffalo Bills 28-24 off of 4 Mark Sanchez touchdowns. Despite 3 Ryan Fitzpatrick touchdowns, the Bills were unable to stop the Jets and win the game.

Despite having a very good game against Darrelle Revis, arguably the best defender in football, Stevie Johnson will be remembered for 2 critical errors that he made during the Jets game. Johnson had 8 catches for 75 yards and a touchdown, but it was on this touchdown that the first mistake came. Johnson decided to perform a touchdown dance showing Plaxico Burress shooting himself in the leg. While this dance...(Read More)
