2011 Q4 BUFFALO FOODS JOURNAL

The Olympic Restaurant, Greek in Buffalo

From Buffalo Restaurants; Written by Steve Dowling on 2011-11-29
The Olympic Restaurant, Greek in Buffalo

The Olympic Restaurant in Buffalo has great food at reasonable prices. It is a 24 hour diner/restaurant that serves American and Greek foods. It sells all foods on the menu 24 hours a day, including many breakfast specials. There is a daily fish fry at the Olympic that is fantastic. It is a decent piece of fish that comes with choice of salad or soup, bread and choice of potato. It is only $8.99, a great price for a good fish fry.

The Olympic Restaurant has two locations in Western New York. The first is in Tonawanda on the corner of Sheridan Drive and Military Road. This is right by Kenmore Mercy Hospital. The second is on Genesee Street right across from the Buffalo Airport.

When I go to the Olympic, I usually either get either a chicken wrap or a turkey club. They are both very good, unfortunately nothing comes with them and an order of fries is kind of expensive. I have also ordered...(Read More)

Fiamma Steakhouse in Buffalo

Fiamma Steakhouse in Buffalo

Fiamma Steakhouse in Buffalo is great. In my opinion, it has the best steak in Buffalo. While it is expensive, it is certainly a place to dine at once or twice a year. Twice, I have gotten the pepper strip steak. I get it medium. It is a 16 oz. steak which is very juicy and has a bit of zing to it. The meal is a la carte. They serve a nice warm bread with dipping sauces. To start you can usually order drinks from the bar or at your table. Generally to split, we have gotten a delicious caesar salad and a side of mashed potatoes. Last time, we got a slice of 6 layer carrot cake to go. I highly recommend the whole meal.

Fiamma is open Monday-Saturday, dinner only. It also has late night on Friday and Saturday. Fiamma has a bar area, fireplace with lounge, valet parking, coat service and reservations. The waiters and staff are very helpful, reading and explaining any questions the diners...(Read More)

The Dove Italian Restaurant in Buffalo

The Dove Italian Restaurant in Buffalo

The Dove Italian Restaurant in Buffalo serves very good food at low prices, especially at lunch. It is a great atmosphere and I highly recommend eating there.

When I go there for lunch, I have gotten both the chicken parmesan and fettuccine alfredo. Both of these are about $10. The lunch comes with free bread and butter, enough where you can fill up on it. The lunch also comes with a small cup of soup. Last time I went, it was a very good chicken noodle with a peppery broth to it. There has also been Buffalo chicken wing and minestrone. The soup is followed up with a salad. There house salad is incredible. It has a creamy parmesan dressing which is very good. I could probably eat 8 of these salads. The entree at lunch is a full entree. The fettuccine is a full plate. The chicken parm comes with a small side of spaghetti and two chicken breasts covered in sauce and mozzarella cheese. If...(Read More)

Wiechec's Lounge

From Buffalo Restaurants; Written by Katie Luce on 2011-11-01
Wiechec

Wiechec's Lounge is a great little place on the East side of Buffalo, known for it's fish, wings and warm atmosphere, among other things. I've been there a few times in the past few years but it's a longtime establishment that has many regulars.
I've had the fish everytime I've been there, mainly because the fish fry is too good to venture off into unknown territory; though I've heard their "Wing Dings" are excellent! Wing Dings are similar to chicken wings. Sometime I will try them as an appetizer.
The fish fry is huge! With the meal comes a half of slice of rye bread, potato salad, excellent macaroni salad, too many crispy french fries and coleslaw. The piece of fish itself is huge - so big that I can only manage to eat about half of it. They offer a smaller version of their fish fry for a couple dollars less, however I assume it's probably worth it to just get the regular meal.
The...(Read More)

Santasiero Italian Restaurant in Buffalo

Santasiero Italian Restaurant in Buffalo

Santasiero's Italian Restaurant in Buffalo is a terrific Italian restaurant. It offers a wide variety of low cost, high quality food. It has tremendous pasta, chicken parmesan, stuffed shells and sandwiches. It also offers unlimited free bread with each meal. Most meals are offered in a half or whole size. The restaurant is low pressure and it's cash only policy adds to the old time allure of the restaurant.

Though the restaurant has 2 separate dining rooms, the front bar/dining room, complete with TV noise and the bustle of waitresses in and out of the kitchen, has an old-fashioned, neighborhood ambiance. The wall behind the bar displays a collage of vintage family portraits, along with signed photos of many of the celebrities who have made their way to Santasiero’s through the years. Many local and national celebrities are regular customers. So too, are many of the local sports stars...(Read More)
