Dream Cruise to Caribbean

Dream Cruise to Caribbean
Written by Richard Dowling on 2013-07-13

I recently went on a Carnival Cruise to the western Caribbean on the Carnival Dream. I never had the desire to go on a cruise, and with all the bad publicity the cruise industry has gotten lately, I figured this could be a great experience or a real disaster.

Fortunately, this cruise was amazing.
I was very impressed with the five star service and the efficiency of the cruise operational. The...(Read More)

Balloons Are Not Just for Kids

Balloons Are Not Just for Kids
Written by Richard Dowling on 2012-07-30

We went to Balloons Over Niagara Saturday evening at Niagara County Community College and had a fun time. This first time mini festival, was to commemorate 50 years of NCCC's existence and accomplishments. They had food, live music, arts and crafts vendors, and of course, many hot air balloons.
The wind direction didn't allow all the balloons to go up from the Niagara County Community College launch...(Read More)

Charleston Charm

Charleston Charm
Written by Rich Dowling on 2012-04-24

We traveled to Charleston S.C. for a few days of vacation and what a beautiful city it is. Charleston is not a big city and has no “skyscrapers” to speak of, but it has great charm. It also has very friendly people, a rich history, varied architecture, quaint gardens and courtyards, and excellent food.
Our hope was to be in Charleston to see the Azaleas flowering, but with the warmer...(Read More)

Proud Owners of an Original Ziehm

Proud Owners of an Original Ziehm
Written by Richard Dowling on 2012-04-08

We recently commissioned a watercolor painting by an extremely talented, award winning Western New York painter by the name of Jody Ziehm. It was a pleasure to “work” with her on this project. In requesting our input, Jody made sure that she created exactly what we were looking for. When Jody was about halfway through the painting, she asked us to take a look at it and make sure we were on...(Read More)

Don't Rush the Season
Written by Richard Dowling on 2012-01-03

This article is a slight departure from my normal travel, what’s good, save the planet story. The Christmas (holiday season) is a beautiful time of the year. The awe inspiring lights, sacred, secular and fun music, provide a background for peace on earth, good will toward men and of course, the reason many businesses can remain in business, Holiday shopping.
While this can be a joyous time, it...(Read More)

Windswept

Windswept

The force of nature is a beautiful and powerful thing. In western New York, we have a reputation for having “bad weather”. We actually have some of the nicest weather in the country. Though our winters are a little too long and dreary, our summers are filled with sunshine and moderate humidity. No 100 degree days that would melt a person’s soul.
We have earthquakes but no damage; snow...(Read More)

Morning Joe Breakfast Club

Morning Joe Breakfast Club
Written by Richard Dowling on 2011-10-15

On a recent Morning Joe segment on MSNBC, Joe Scarborough and his sidekick, Mika, had one of the best morning shows I've seen. Joe and Mika carried on their usual flirtatious disagreements over cereal.Joe like Frosted Flakes and Lucky Charms, and Mika thought they were all poison and unhealthy. It was nice to see talk show hosts being real human beings; eating cereal like most men would eat at the...(Read More)

Letchworth

Letchworth
Written by Richard Dowling on 2011-10-09

The name says it all! Letchworth! The State park in Western New York that was given the name from William Pryor Letchworth is a natural beauty, that is truly unspoiled. With over 14,000 acres, three good-sized waterfalls, trails for hiking, and biking, this park represents uncommercialized natural beauty and splendor.
When the Genesee River cut a gorge through this land and created the "Grand...(Read More)
