Crystal Cruises has announced it will invest in significant enhancements to its Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony cruise ships in the coming years, USA Today reported.
The focus of the renovations, which are scheduled to take place in 2017 and 2018, will be to improve the ships' open seating dining space and add more suites.
In addition to renovating the two ships, the luxury cruise line provided an update on its overall expansion efforts this week.
The Los Angeles-based Genting Hong Kong brand now plans to add three expedition vessels designed for polar travel by 2021 instead of just one. The ships are expected in 2019, 2020 and 2021, respectively.
However the first of three 1,000-passenger luxury ships that were originally scheduled to debut in 2018 will have to wait until 2022, the cruise line confirmed.

There are no changes to Crystal Cruises' plans for six new river ships, four of which are expected over the next two years. The company also plans to add a Boeing 777 to operate luxury air trips next year.
Nonetheless, it's still unclear whether the aforementioned projects will be completed on time. After all, the cruise line has made a series of changes to its plans of late, recently pushing back dates for ship debuts and canceling plans to acquire a Boeing 787 Dreamliner and restore the SS United States.
Currently, Crystal Cruises operates a pair of ocean vessels, a river ship, a yacht and a private jet.
